Kirkwood Sanitation Services at a Glance:
Weekly Collection
Trash, recycling, and yard waste are picked up weekly for single-family homes. 65-gallon carts provided (95-gallon available upon request).
Bulky Item Collection
Free, twice-a-year pickup for large items like furniture and appliances. Register at least a week before pickup.
Special Pickups
We handle oversized cardboard and other items not covered by regular service.
Yard Waste Disposal
We collect leaves, grass clippings, garden waste, and small branches. We also offer free Christmas tree pickup in January.
Hazardous Waste

Rear-Yard Service

♻️ Free Bulky Item Pickup – Twice a Year
Spring and Fall cleanup made easy—for free!
Every Kirkwood household gets two free bulky item pickups each year—one in the spring and one in the fall. The next round of pickups is this September. Just register online and place your items at the curb the night before your week begins. It’s that simple.

🧾 How to Register Online
You’ll use the Waste Wizard tool on this page to schedule your pickup. Here’s how:

Scroll up to the section titled Waste Wizard (just above these instructions).

In the box marked with a magnifying glass icon, type your home address.

Click the “Collection” icon (looks like a small trash truck).

Choose “Bulky Item Collection” from the list that appears.

Select up to 4 large items for pickup. Then, click the red “Next” button.

Choose your pickup date.

Review your information, then add your contact info and where to collect the items.
-
Click the red “Submit Request” button—and you’re all set!

✅ What to Know Before You Set Items Out

Place items 1–3 feet from the curb by Sunday night of your scheduled week.
-
You may include up to 4 large items, such as furniture or appliances.
-
Do not include electronics, yard waste, construction debris, or hazardous materials.
-
Your trash account must be up to date to participate.
Missed your pickup? No problem.

🗑️Cart Placement Guidelines
To help our crews work efficiently and safely:

Place carts at least 3 feet apart from each other.
-
Keep carts away from parked cars, mailboxes, trees, or utility poles.

Face the handles toward the house or sidewalk.
🍂 Yard Waste Collection
We pick up:

Leaves
-
Grass clippings
-
Garden waste
-
Small branches (no larger than 4 feet in length or 4 inches in diameter)
Reminders:

Use kraft paper yard waste bags—available at most local hardware or grocery stores.

Each bag must weigh under 50 pounds.
-
Yard waste stickers are required and can be purchased at City Hall (Finance Department).

Special Pickups – Fridays Only
Request your special pickup by noon on Thursday for Friday service. Requests after 12:00 p.m. will be scheduled for the next Friday.
What We Pick Up
- Major appliances
- Large furniture
- Miscellaneous items (up to 2 cubic yards)
Loose items must be boxed, bundled, or bagged. Railroad ties and lumber should be cut to 3-foot lengths.
How to Schedule

What We Don’t Collect
No concrete, bricks, yard waste, hazardous materials, nails, concrete, or items with Freon.
Cost
$25 per item or per 2 cubic yards, added to your next utility bill.
Make sure items are at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on your scheduled Friday pickup!

Hazardous Waste
Dispose of hazardous materials at St. Louis County's permanent collection site. Be sure to schedule an appointment in advance.
Christmas Tree Pickup
Free curbside pickup in January. Just remove decorations—no plastic bags.
Basic Sanitation Service
Once-a-week trash and curbside recycling:- 65-gallon carts: $27.23/month
- 95-gallon trash cart & 65/95-gallon recycling cart: $32.23/month
Rear-Yard Sanitation Service
Once-a-week trash and recycling:- 65-gallon carts: $46.82/month
- 95-gallon trash cart & 65/95-gallon recycling cart: $51.82/month

Yard Waste Disposal
- Yard waste bags (5-pack): $12.27/package (prices may vary by retailer)
- Yard waste stickers (available at City Hall in the Finance Department): $2.00 each (for non-Kirkwood bags)
