Honoring Those Who Inspire Inclusion and Kindness in Kirkwood
Each year, the Kirkwood Human Rights Commission presents the Denis Hart Award for Excellence to recognize individuals and organizations that go above and beyond to make Kirkwood a place where everyone feels valued, welcomed, and respected.
This award celebrates those who turn compassion into action -- helping strengthen the bonds that make our community shine.
Who Can Be Nominated?
We invite nominations for anyone who:
✔️ Demonstrates a strong commitment to promoting human rights and equity
✔️ Fosters a welcoming and inclusive environment for all
✔️ Makes a lasting impact on the Kirkwood community
Nominations are open to individuals, businesses, nonprofits, schools, and community organizations.
How to Submit a Nomination
Please include:
- The name and contact information of the person or organization you are nominating
- A brief description of their contributions to human rights, inclusion, and equity in Kirkwood
- Your name and contact information as the nominator
Submit your nomination no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 10, 2025 by one of the following methods:

Award Recognition
🏆 The awardee will be selected by the Kirkwood Human Rights Commission and announced in January 2026.
The honoree will be recognized during a Kirkwood City Council meeting and celebrated on the City's website and in community publications.
