New LED Lights Come to Downtown Kirkwood
Kirkwood Electric has completed installation of 64 new LED lights city-wide, including 30 new LED lights along Argonne Drive and Taylor Avenue in downtown Kirkwood. The City has approximately 1,400 street lights overall. Electric crews began the conversion in City neighborhoods in November 2018 from the older incandescent technology to LEDs, and this work is ongoing and has now extended to the business district. The addition of LEDs to street lights will improve overall lighting quality and increase energy efficiency as well. LED stands for “light emitting diode.” LEDs have been found to be the most efficient bulbs available today. Kirkwood expects to save approximately $100,000 per year with this lighting upgrade.
