Old Business

The city council sends thanks to members going off of boards and commissions (which is happening in June). On the first Friday of October from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. there will be an event at PJ’s recognizing board and commission members. Walter Smith and Ray Lester indicated that they both will be out of town on that date.

New members will be appointed by the city council at their next meeting for terms starting in June. Two new members will be appointed to the HRAAC.

New Business

Upcoming events were discussed. Greentree will be taking place in September. Rather than try and staff a booth just by the HRAAC it was suggested that there be a board and commission booth, staffed by members of the city’s various boards and commissions to hand out information materials and volunteer profile forms. Staff will share this suggestion and if approved pursue it with the park staff.

The commission agreed that they would like to once again participate in Kirkwood Junction’s Dog Days of Summer at the Farmer’s Market.

The commission also agreed that they would like to sponsor an essay contest again for 11th Graders. They would like very much to see increased participation and to follow-up with class discussions that would involve HRAAC members. Staff will talk with area educators to see if there should be any changes to the timing of the essay contest (September) and will circulate among members some proposed topics prior to the next meeting.

Adjournment

Walter Smith moved to adjourn. Paul Ward seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 6:44 p.m.

The next meeting date is July 17, 2007.
