Communications
Committee Agenda
JANUARY 3, 2007
Attendance - Committee members, Bliss, Bond,
Farris, Hall, Knudsen, Miller, Spitzer were present.
Utility insert survey update - Copies of the
survey were distributed. Surveys will be mailed Monday through
Friday during January. Condominium owners who receive service from
Ameran and whose condo fees pay for water and trash service may
not receive the survey.
Romona Miller assumed responsibility for a
spreadsheet to record survey results. All committee members will
record survey results. A cross check of surveys from respondents
who have had and who have not had contact with board, commissions,
and the council will be done.
Update on Staff Meeting - The meeting was
postponed until January due to staff workload generated by the
December storm.
City’s November Survey - Responses to sources
of information questions were reviewed. The two local papers plus
city publications continue as past surveys have indicated to be
primary sources of information. The committee noted three areas of
particular interest to its work: 1) the number of residents who
rely on their friends and neighbors for information; 2) the small
number of those surveyed who use the city web site; 3) the
percentage of residents who would be interested in attending a
multiple series of information meeting to help increase their
understanding of how the city works.
Committee Assignments - Each committee member
will draft their comments on the city’s role in communication
for the next meeting. Attention will be given to the differences
between pro-active and reactive communication.
