The Bureau of Investigation is supervised by Lt. Bob Kosyan.  It has four criminal investigators, one evidence technician, one juvenile officer, one school resource officer, and one officer assigned to undercover drug activities who is detached to the St. Louis County task force.

The Bureau is primarily responsible for investigating any offense that occurs within the Kirkwood and Oakland city limits. During the investigative process, the investigators interact with various agencies on the municipal, state, and federal level. They are also responsible for processing crime scenes, including the preservation, collection, and transportation of evidence to the St. Louis County Lab, and the application for warrants through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's office.Detective Doug Raymond works on a case

Detectives also meet regularly with other agencies to exchange information about area crime problems and belong to various associations to enhance the exchange of information and discussion of investigative techniques.

The detectives are members of the Major Case Squad, which responds at the request of other agencies to investigate homicides. Each year, the Bureau offers training to area banks, large businesses, liquor license holders, and other merchants as needed. Other special investigations include sting operations and liquor license investigations.
