CFL RECYCLING
The City of Kirkwood accepts Compact Fluorescent Lightbulbs (CFLs) for recycling at the Finance window at City Hall, 139 S. Kirkwood Road, during regular business hours (Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm). Residents will receive a new CFL bulb for every used CFL that is turned in for recycling. CFLs should NOT be placed in recycling carts or in regular trash bags for collection. CFLs are hazardous waste. Thank you!
STYROFOAM RECYCLING NO LONGER COLLECTED AT SCHEIDEGGER RECYCLING DEPOSITORY
The City will no longer collect or accept Styrofoam at the Scheidegger Recycling Depository, 350 S. Taylor Avenue,
effective immediately. Midwest Recycles, the City's Styrofoam hauler, informed the City that it will no longer be able to haul Styrofoam from the Depository and will remove its collection trailer on December 30. This is the decision of the recycler. However, the City is extremely disappointed and will work to find an alternative method to recycle this material.
KIRKWOOD CITIZENS MAKE CURBSIDE RECYCLING A HUGE SUCCESS
Curbside recycling came to Kirkwood in January 2011, and so far, thanks to the participation of the great citizens of this City, it has been an incredible success.
A recent story on the Kirkwood Patch Website told the whole story.
