Kirkwood Police Department: Keeping You Safe and Secure
The standard of performance for which the Kirkwood Police Department strives is based on the ideal of total commitment, not only to the police service but also to the general well being of our community. Such a commitment is the hallmark of the police professional who recognizes that it must be present not only in their daily work, but their private and family life as well. This commitment assures each citizen of Kirkwood that the police will maintain constant vigilance over their property and personal safety. It also assures them that the necessary police responses will be swift, unbiased, competent and scrupulously maintained within the bounds established by law and in the highest ethical traditions.

DOWNTOWN PARKING AMNESTY PROGRAM
The City of Kirkwood is piloting a Downtown Kirkwood parking citation amnesty program through the holiday season. The program is designed to help new visitors to Downtown Kirkwood who may not be fully aware of the parking regulations, while still ensuring there is adequate parking enforcement action and sufficient turnover of parking spaces to benefit the Downtown area. Here is how it will work:
If a motorist receives a citation for violating designated two- or three-hour parking, and has never received a Downtown Kirkwood parking citation before, he or she will receive an “Amnesty Pass” along with the parking citation. The motorist can submit to the Police Department the citation, Amnesty Pass, identification, and some proof that he or she patronized a Downtown business, and the City will waive the $10 parking citation. In addition to instructions for submission, the pass contains additional suggestions for parking to assist the motorist’s next visit to Downtown Kirkwood.
We hope this program is successful and will encourage visitors to return to visit the many shops, restaurants and other services of Downtown Kirkwood. We welcome suggestions to improve the program. Please call Captain John Folluo at 314-822-5885 with your suggestions. After this holiday season the program will be evaluated to determine whether long-term program implementation may be warranted.
