• Hear and decide cases where alleged error by Building Commission has occurred

• Grant variances under circumstances defined by ordinances

• Permit exceptions as defined by ordinances

• Authorize additional uses as defined by ordinances

• Provide written finding of fact based on sworn testimony and evidence, specifying the reason for granting or denying every variance.

• Review and decide on appeals when it is deemed that the true intent of the Building Codes has been incorrectly interpreted; or the provisions of the Code do not duly apply; or an equally good or better form of construction can be used.
