Kirkwood Electric Conducts Pole Survey

Kirkwood, Missouri -- Monday, September 24, 2007 – In the coming weeks, Kirkwood Electric crews will be surveying high voltage pole citywide. “As a follow up to our ramped up tree trimming efforts earlier this year, we’re sending crews out to visually inspect our high voltage pole leads to ensure that we’ve got proper clearance from line to limb,” stated Kirkwood Electric Director Mark Petty. This year, Kirkwood Electric nearly doubled its budget for tree trimming in an effort to reduce line loss and power outages that result from tree foliage coming in contact with lines, especially high voltage lines. “We’re surveying all high voltage poles citywide, even those maintained by AmerenUE, because Kirkwood receives power through AmerenUE’s lines to our substations that serve the remainder of the city, which is powered by Kirkwood Electric.”
