Release From The City
Kirkwood
To Hold Public Forums on Infill Housing and Neighborhood
Preservation
Kirkwood,
Missouri – Thursday, August 30, 2007 -- Concern over how to
preserve the character of residential neighborhoods when they
are impacted by demolitions, new construction, additions, and
rehabbing, is a recurring topic in Kirkwood and other
municipalities across the country.
Two
public forums are scheduled for Thursday, September 13, 2007, at
7:00 p.m. and on Saturday, October 6, 2007, at 9:30 a.m. Both
forums will be held in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 139
South Kirkwood Road. The forums are being coordinated by the
City Council’s subcommittee on infill housing and residential
construction. The public is strongly encouraged to attend and to
offer constructive suggestions on how to balance preservation
efforts with present-day housing trends. City staff as well as
subcommittee members will be present to provide answers and
follow-up information as needed during the forum discussions.
Subcommittee meetings, as well as the public forums, are posted
on the city’s website,
www.ci.kirkwood.mo.us, under “meetings and agendas.”
