Plenty of “Pre” Greentree Festival Activities To

Entertain Babies To Boomers!

 

 

Kirkwood, Missouri -- Friday, August 10, 2007 – Entering its 47th year as a Kirkwood tradition, the annual Greentree Festival always features number of events that occur prior to the official festival. This year is no exception. From  babies to boomers, there is something for everyone at the Greentree Festival. 18th Annual Greentree Tennis Tournament

DATE: September 6-13, Kirkwood Park Tennis Courts

TIME: Match Times: Weekends: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.; Weekdays: 6 p.m. - 11 p.m.

COST: $14/singles and $18/doubles(R); $16/singles and $20 doubles(NR)

Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles Matches! All levels of players welcome! Applications available at: Kirkwood Community Center (111 South Geyer), The Tennis Place (Des Peres), festival website (www.greentreefestival.com).

(Kickoff Party: Sept.7 features food, beverages, and attendance prizes; watch a pro exhibition match beginning at 8 p.m. on Court 5. Reservations required. Call Marlene at 795-3082).

 

McEntee Memorial Bike Ramble  … a fun ride for young and old alike, honoring Kirkwood’s fallen officer, Sergeant William McEntee.

DATE: September 8, 6:30 a.m., Kirkwood Park

COST: $12 per person in advance ($15 day of ramble)

Applications available at: Kirkwood Police Station (131 West Madison), Kirkwood Community Center (111 South Geyer), festival website (www.greentreefestival.com).

 

Seniors Pool Tournament & Bingo … Seniors, try your skills at Alabama Eight Ball and/or bingo! Open to all adults ages 55 and older. Lunch will be catered by Westwood Catering. Pre-registration is required by September 10 at the Community Center, 111 South Geyer Road.

DATE: September 13, Kirkwood Community Center

TIME: POOL TOURNAMENT: 10 a.m.; BINGO: 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.

COST: Pool Tournament: (includes lunch & awards): $11(R), $15 (NR)

             Bingo (includes lunch, door prizes, & bingo prizes; all participants play one card): $11(R), $15 (NR). Lunch catered by Westwood Catering.

 

“Cutest Kirkwood Baby” Contest … Open to all Kirkwood babies born after Sept. 1, 2005. Entry forms available online or at the Community Center. Submit completed form, along with 5x7 photo and $10 entry fee by Sept. 6 to the Community Center. Voting takes place at the festival with people voting with their loose change. The baby with the most change wins a $100 savings bond from Frontenac Bank.
