What are the rules regarding having dogs and cats?
You may have a maximum of three dogs and/or cats living with you. An exception is that a new litter may be kept for up to six months. The city has a law that makes dog owners responsible for picking up animal waste. If you have a complaint regarding irresponsible dog owners, you may file a complaint directly with the police department. For dogs or cats at large you should contact the County Animal Control office at 726-6655.

When and where does the city council meet?
The City Council meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber (2nd floor) at City Hall, 139 S. Kirkwood Road. City offices are open for business Monday
Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Who is my council person?
The City of Kirkwood does not have wards, therefore, the seven member council is elected at large and represents all Kirkwood residents. Currently, the council is made up of Gerry Biedenstein, Joe Godi, Gina Jaksetic, Tim Griffin, Mayor Art McDonnell, Iggy Yuan, and Paul Ward.

What are the terms of the council?
The Mayor and City Council are limited to two consecutive four-year terms. The terms are staggered so that not all of the members are up for re-election in the same year.

May I speak at council meetings and public hearings?
City Council meetings are open to the public and an opportunity for citizen comments is part of the agenda. At that point citizens may address the council concerning any issue but we request that comments be limited to three minutes per person. There are also opportunities to speak during public hearings after the petitioner has presented the issue to the City Council.

How can I be appointed to a Board or Commission?
The council makes appointments when there are vacancies on boards and commissions. You can express your interests and qualifications by contacting city clerk Betty Montano at 822-5802 and requesting a Volunteer Profile Form or download the form directly.

Can I get married at the city hall in Kirkwood?
No. You may obtain a marriage license at the St. Louis County Government Center located at 41 S. Central Avenue, Clayton,
Missouri. Call 615-7180 for more information.

How do I get barricades for a block party?
You can request barricades by calling 822-5806 at least 72 hours in advance. No Parking signs are available free from the police department by calling 822-5881.

Do you have a notary I may use?
City notaries are used for official city business only. Contact your bank to see if they offer notary services to their customers.

When is the Greentree Festival?
The annual Greentree Festival takes place the second weekend following the Labor Day Holiday in September on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. See the festival's own website at www.greentreefestival.com.

How can I get a job with the city?
The city only accepts resumes and applications for jobs that are currently vacant. Job openings are posted at city hall and on this web site.

May I put up signs for my garage sale?
Technically, such signs properly belong only in your front yard. However, as a practical matter if you place them on a street corner with the corner neighbor
s permission and take them down promptly you will not have a problem.
