Kirkwood Electric Will Conduct an Infrastructure Audit

Kirkwood Electric has contracted with Global Mapping Solutions (GMS) to audit the utility's infrastructure. This process may take up to three months, but should be completed by Thanksgiving. GMS employees may pass through yards to collect date associated with poles, wires, transformers, and meters. Appointments will not be scheduled, and electric service will not be interrupted.

GMS installers will carry identification with them as they work in Kirkwood neighborhoods. A sign will be displayed on their vehicle dashboards. Installers wear yellow shirts or safety vests to provide visibility to vehicular traffic. Any questions should be directed to 314-922-5842. City Installs Bike Lane Improvements

In June, the City began the installation of various on-road bicycle facility markings to serve as a pilot project for some techniques that have not been used in Kirkwood, as well as expanding some techniques that are already in use.  The project is part of the implementation of the City’s 2015 Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan with design assistance provided by Alta Planning & Design.

The new markings can be seen along the 2.3 mile route that ultimately connects the Grant’s Trail Trailhead in Kirkwood, at Leffingwell Avenue and Holmes Avenue, to the campus of St. Louis Community College-Meramec, Rose Hill Avenue and Geyer Road.  The route takes a few turns throughout South Kirkwood and also passes by the newly expanded and renovated Fillmore Park (click here for route map).
